Well, there was a complaint that people were getting too many SitePOINTS, so Maygirl divided everyone's SP balance by about 10 or 100. If you didn't have enough SPs to still have a positive number, you'd receive negative SPs.

It is a shame, I know, and personally I'm somewhat upset that I lost most of mine, but nothing can be done about it, I'm afraid. You'll just have to earn them back. Sorry. Sad

So, I need to take two positions here.

First, we did need to cut down our SP limits. Within weeks a new user could gain all access to the Forum Shop. And he could've not posted anything! So, taking down a lot of SP's is and was a good idea.

But we shouldn't have negative SP's. It's like working you way for a debt, and after doing that, you barely have anything for yourself!

1) I see your point, but that is slightly exaggerated. The maximum a user in that scenario could get was 2 SPs. And anyway, some people have over 500 posts, some over 700 and in my case over 1,400 posts! I think that people who work hard to earn SPs shouldn't have them taken away, but perhaps earn less SPs for posting, have higher prices in the shop and lower handouts in contests etc. That is, I suppose, inflation but it is the only way we can make SitePOINTS a stable 'currency' without actually taking money away from people.

Just my opinion. Smile

Perhaps my SitePoints (and anyone else with negative sp's) should be reset to zero?

Yes. I was talking with totelyawsome, and saw that he had more than -1700 SP's. That's extravagant.

I have a solution for you guys:

Everyone who has a negative SitePOINT balance, please PM Maygirl2 immediately.
Maygirl is a nice and reasonable person, so I'm sure she will at least reset your SP balance to 0 so that you can earn them as normal if you ask politely.

Maygirl normally comes on to check her PMs once a week or so, I think, so please be patient and we'll work to resolve the issue. Smile

Thread locked due to resolution.
