I have to be inactive for a while, this process may take anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks due to complications on my computer which has caused me to reinstall Windows.

The reinstallation process only takes 1-2 hours, however I must update Windows Vista and download programs etc.

I hope you understand.

To be honest, all it is is making sure you have enough disk space and being able to click Windows Update.

I can still be on the forum since security updates are useless since Kaspersky has all of the data from the updates anyway.

That's why I hate Windows, I despise how bad the OS installation can be when it becomes stale. I've seen a 3 year old Windows 7 installation take about 3 minutes to open a browser. After reinstallation, the browser opens instantly. The hard drive wasn't full prior to reinstalling Windows. This computer is running a 3 year old XP installation (June 2010) and it's still running XP well :/

If I were you, I'd buy Windows 7 and upgrade from Windows Vista if possible. Just make sure your computer's drivers work with it. This laptop is from 2007, but it didn't come with Vista. It can run Windows 7, if I wanted it to.

2 weeks?! Wow, you must have a load of programs to reinstall. It's such a hassle, isn't it?

See you later then Smile

Sindar the 2 weeks was to recover all lost data. But then I realized, I totally forgot to back it up on my servers.

All I have now is updates Very Happy

I can't afford £150 for Seven yet, I was thinking of downgrading to XP and save like, 10GB of space but I will need to find an XP boot disk, I guess I'll start looking in car boots.

I wouldn't downgrade to XP, it is a 12 year old operating system. XP will not be supported next year, I'd stick with Vista or you could skip to 8. It's about £20 cheaper than 7 at £99.99 Smile
