If you post a contest (excluding Official CPF Contest Thread and any other official/staff run contest), please ensure it follows these guidelines:

1) It is not a scam. Please do not offer prizes that you will not be able to give winners within a maximum period of 12 months, unless there is good reason.

2) It is fair. You cannot automatically make one person win just because they're your best friend. A good website with tools for randomising numbers or lists (for raffles and lotteries) that follows the CPF policies is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

3) No fake or multiple entries, and no use of multiple accounts. Speaks for itself, really.

4) It is appropriate and follows the rules.

5) If the contest requires SitePOINTS to enter, the owner is not obliged to give refunds, although any forum moderator may force a contest owner to give a refund if they feel that the contest has been run unfairly.

CPF Moderation Staff

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the following punishments. up to and including: The closure of your contest thread; a polite notice asking you to stop running contests; deduction of SPs from your account (in the case of raffles and lotteries) or a formal punishment (e.g a warning). Any incidents regarding scamming or unfair contests are taken seriously, as we want all forum activities to be fair and fun for all, and may be recorded in staff logs.
