The Power of Twitter and PR

Post  King Kane on 2/7/2013, 12:44 am

Hey guys! So look at this image from earlier today.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

You're like affraid affraid affraid  right? This was after I posted on Twitter. It brought us to 11 users!! I believe PR is a valuable tool to gain forum members. I mean, take a look at the image! 11 users is almost close to our record, 13 users!

So, what is your opinion on PR?

To clarify, let me explain what PR is. PR has two parts: advertising/social media (basically   Twitter and YouTube) and enhancing the forum's public image (basically me going around to forums we may have had flame wars with/have a bad impression of us and making us 'look good' to prospective members). I presume that you're talking about the advertising side of things. Smile

Yeah, it is extremely powerful. I retweet practically everything on @OfficialCPF which means over 500 people see our Tweets and thus we get about 8 guests per link shared, on average. Unfortunately, hardly any of these guests register, but it brings our stats up and makes people know of our existence and hopefully come again. Smile

We plan to continue with our current strategy of raising awareness through YouTube and Twitter. If you have a blog (Mango, this is directed at you Razz) then we do have HTML banners available. They don't take up that much space, and if you prefer you can just link to us in your Blogroll, but it improves our SEO - and who knows, someone could click it! Smile

I had a good plan for CPB advertising as well, but unfortunately as the site is down that is on hold for the moment. Smile

Best wishes,

Excuse the double post, but here is something you don't see most of the time, a Bing Bot.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

This was actually gained with posting on Twitter!

Notice it doesn't have color, unlike Google.

Twitter is useless, try using an adsense clickbot to get users coming, and making you a millionaire.

We do get bing bots quite often actually, but congratulations anyway. In my experience we tend to get a LOT of bots and guests during Twitter ad campaigns - I think the old record of 13 users was set during the first ever Twitter advertisements which Maygirl and I organised and hosted. Smile

If you mean advertising on the forum, then that would have to be a no, I think. We actually paid (I donated some of the money) for the ads to be removed for registered users and we have a no-spamming rule anyway. Razz

As for millionaire status, my top site with ads is only worth £0.10/.08 or so. Razz

Or do you mean paying for ads?

Twitter isn't useless I think, because it is our #1 traffic generator. Smile
