Official Suggest-a-Game Competition: The Arcade Contest

Hello Penguins!

This month, we have a very SPECIAL official competition. The staff have been thinking of ways to expand the forum's features, and we want YOU to post an original idea for an arcade game. The best idea will be made into a Flash game by me, and it will be displayed in the GOLD Club, then added to the Arcade.

It doesn't have to be Club Penguin related, although CP games will be easier to make, but we do ask that all your ideas follow the forum rules.

Prizes: FREE GOLD Club Membership paid for by me, 100 SPs, your idea used in the game, and your CPF username on the loading screen.

Contest closes 20th February 2013. If you have any questions, ask Ccpenguin8.

This sounds interesting. I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure how capable you are at Flash so I don't know if my idea is too hard or not.

  • The End of Club Penguin: The Game (Basically, a platformer which follows the storyline but this would be very complicated)
  • Coffee / Pizza game: Basically, you work in a Cafe on Club Penguin. A penguin walks into the store then you take their order. Next, you prepare the coffee, and make pizza with it or any other meals. Many penguins will come into the cafe, so you'll have to be efficient, and there would be many different foods / drinks in the game which you unlock over time.
  • Super Penguin Bros. (self explanatory)
I wonder if these could be implemented into CPB aswell? I'll check. Smile

Okay.

I have an idea.

Here's the story.

DJ, a small blue puffle, woke up one morning in an uknown dimension. It was 2D. He saw his way out of this uknown world, an igloo. But he was trapped in a canon. Seeing the gateway to freedom before his eyes - he aimed the curser toward the portal, pressed the button and hit his target, the portal to level 2.

What is this? A level 2? Something is different about this one! There was a barricade in the way! no DJ has to aim his curser at the wall, hoping to use his knowledge of physics to bank himself in - and it works!

So, yeah, a basic game about a puffle trying to find his way home. He uses his surroundings (the wall) to get around obstacles. If you aim at the wall and shoot, he bounces off and keeps going straight the other way.

I'll name it... [i]The Puffle and the Portal[i].

I'm not too brilliant with graphics, so most of the pictures would be Club Penguin cut outs, but otherwise I'm quite efficient with Flash gaming. As for your entries:

1) I start development on the 20th, which is when the winner is announced, so I don't think I'd be able to do it, since I'd need you to give me a copy of the full storyline, and I don't think you've finished it yet.

2) Nice idea. I could do a game whereby the customer says an order for coffee (example), and then the player clicks the coffee machine to produce coffee which they give to the customer. I can probably do about 10 levels of this. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out how to save games, so the unlocking thing wouldn't work, I'm afraid.

3) Razz Probably not.

Great idea. I can definitely do that. You click at a space, the avatar (puffle) moves there, and if it is a portal the level advances, if not, it bounces off. Simple enough.

Thanks for your entries so far! Keep your great ideas coming! Smile

Please excuse the double post - important notice.

-

Contest now CLOSED. Thank you all for your entries! Well, I love DJ's puffle game, and I think Sindar's coffee game is also possible.

The winner is Sindar Toffe! Your game will be developed and released by March. DJ, I'll two levels of your puffle game as 'bonus' levels once you finish the game. Sindar, your 100 SP will be transferred. And DJ, you can have the free membership since Sindar already has one and I'm still using your idea anyway. Smile
