10. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching.

20. On a dark, stormy Halloween night, four kids named Luke, John, Sarah and Bob walk into a haunted house during a blackout. Only one can escape. They take a staircase to the second floor, a trapdoor on the left, then go up the ladder to the right, followed by a 28-foot slide to the basement through the mouth of a Giant Panda. In one corner of the murky cellar is a chainsaw, a dagger, a rope with a noose and an electric chair. Written on the wall in blood are the words, "Only one will survive - choose your death!" Bob takes the rope, Sarah picks up the dagger, John chooses the chainsaw and Luke uses the chair.

Re: A Thread Of Riddles And Brain Teasers
Shouldn't this be locked, seeing as a similar thread was posted in you-know-where.
Anyway, I have two for you:
Certain words end in 'gry'. Two examples of this are angry and hungry. There are three words in the English language. The third is one we use every day. If you have listened carefully, you will have noticed I've already told you what it is. What is the third word?
A man is on trial. The judge says 'I'll let you make a statement. If it is true, I'll sentence you to four years in prison. If it is false, I'll sentence you to six years in prison'. The man made his statement, and the judge let him go free. What did the man say?
I'll be back later with more. Great thread.

- Spoiler:
- 'You'll sentence me to six years in prison'. If he was sentenced to six years in prison, he would have to be re-sentenced to four years, because that would make the statement true. But, because he would be sentenced to four years, that would mean the statement would be therefore false, right? So, he would have to be re-sentenced to six years. Which would make it true. And so on and so on. To avoid this neverending paradox, the judge just let him go free. (Re-read this again several times if you don't understand)
I'll be back later with more. Great thread.
Re: A Thread Of Riddles And Brain Teasers
I have some excellent brain teasers; they'll make you think!
What gets wetter as it dries?
What gets stronger as it becomes wetter?
In a house up for sale, there are three lightbulbs in one room, and the switches leading to the bulbs are in another room. A man interested in buying the house finds this rather peculiar, and the real estate agent sets him a challenge; if he can find out which switch leads to which lightbulb, he can have the house with no charge applied. But the catch is, he can only enter the room once, and it is impossible to see anything from the room with the switches. He correctly answers, and the house is his. How did he figure it out by only entering once? (It might take a bit to understand this one)
There is a street containing different coloured bungalows. There is a green, pink, purple, black, grey, orange, white, yellow and red bungalow. There is also a blue bungalow. What colour are the stairs of the blue bungalow?
What gets wetter as it dries?
- Spoiler:
- A towel, assuming it is being used to dry somebody.
What gets stronger as it becomes wetter?
- Spoiler:
- A teabag. I specifcally didn't state how it became stronger, but the flavour and aroma of the tea became stronger as the teabag became wetter.

How did he figure it out by only entering once? (It might take a bit to understand this one)
- Spoiler:
- He firstly would need a diagram drawn on paper as well as a pen. He would turn on the first switch for about ten minutes, then switch it off. He would then turn the second switch on, and do nothing to the third one.
He then enters the room, and finds out which light is on (which comes from switch two). He then must find out which light is the first and third one.
Turning on the first one for ten minutes, he knows that the lightbulb connecting to switch one must be warm, considering he left it on for a long period of time. He feels both bulbs, and knows the warm one belongs to switch one. The one which is cold and off belongs to switch three considering he hasn't done anything to it.

- Spoiler:
- If you guessed the colour blue, you're wrong. Bungalows are one-story houses, so therefore there are no stairs, as there is no second story.
